Medieval gargoyles are often quirky looking, which is a huge part of their charm and appeal. ![]() Gargoyles are most commonly associated with medieval European churches, where they are plentiful, but they also appear on all sorts of other buildings around the world and throughout time. In case any of you don’t know, a gargoyle is a carved human, animal, or monster figure on the outside of a building, and it has a very specific function that you’ll learn about below. There is also the chapel of King Wenceslas, where there is info board about it.Everybody loves gargoyles! I used to think I was alone in this, but I’ve come to learn that’s not at all true. There are apps that you can download, or books that tell you about the cathedral, but if you like lots of info, a audio-guide may be worth it, but look at the various options before purchasing. ![]() A walk around Prague Castle can be a whole day. There is no information boards, they were taken out to try and get people to buy audio-guides, which are really expensive and you only get 3hrs. We on the hand walked through with our ticket, and had space to walk around take in the statues, decoration, etc. All groups go and stand in a small area that is cordon off, and everyone is fighting to get a picture of the cathedral, from a distant. We were glad we did as tour groups are not allowed to walk around the cathedral. After doing some background reading, we decided against a tour and decided to just go and see it. There is lots of information of what to see and do, or not what to do or see at Prague Castle. ![]()
